Seve Trophy 2007

Congratulations to Great Britain and Ireland who retained the Seve Trophy at the Heritage Golf and Spa Resort on Sunday. GB&I, lead by 2008 Ryder Cup captain Nick Faldo, went into the final day one point down but then blitzed the singles, taking eight of the ten points available.

The strong finish bodes well for the golfing legend - and occasional Harrison Ford impersonator’s - captaincy of the big one next year. Even if Lawrence Donegan didn’t think so. What we got from Lawro’s article, published on Friday, is because Nick’s not the most PR savvy man in the world he’s leaving himself open to get slaughtered by the press if Europe perform badly. GP couldn’t give a monkeys if Faldo does an impression of Lauren Cooper from The Catherine Tate Show for three days, as long a he comes home with the 17” x 9” wide gold cup bearing Samuel Ryder’s name. To use the parlance, “we’re not bovvered”.
